Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden

The iconic English heavy metal band Iron Maiden was founded in 1975 by bassist and lead songwriter Steve Harris in Leyton, East London. In spite of several combo changes throughout its early years, Harris, drummer Nicko McBrain, lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson, guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith, and Janick Gers formed the band’s legendary lineup.

One of the main figures in the new British heavy metal trend was Iron Maiden. Both Iron Maiden (1980) and Killers (1981), their follow-up album, were critically acclaimed. But the band’s evolution began in 1981 when Bruce Dickinson joined, taking Paul Di’Anno’s place as the original lead singer. Dickinson’s strong voice enabled Iron Maiden to reach incredible heights.
