John Coltrane

John Coltrane was a revolutionary American jazz saxophonist and composer whose enormous influence on the jazz world is well recognized. He gained to prominence in the 1950s as a member of Miles Davis’ quintet, when his serious improvisational technique shined. Coltrane’s solo career took off with the release of the landmark record “Giant Steps,” which highlighted his technical skill and inventive chord alterations. He continued to push musical limits with albums like “A Love Supreme,” a spiritual suite that is still considered a jazz classic today. Throughout his career, Coltrane collaborated with jazz greats like Thelonious Monk and Eric Dolphy, always expanding his style.
